An Evening of Mystery Will Help Scioto County Families Write Their Next Chapter
Habitat for Humanity of the Tri-State transforms its annual fall fundraiser into an interactive murder mystery at Oddfellows
[PORTSMOUTH, OHIO] Every family deserves the opportunity to build a better story. This fall, one unforgettable mystery will help future Habitat homeowners in Scioto County begin their next chapter.
Habitat for Humanity of the Tri-State will host its annual Scioto County fall fundraiser this Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at Oddfellows in Portsmouth. Formerly known as “Harvest of Hope,” this year’s event will offer guests a new experience: an interactive murder mystery show that will feature “The Butler Didn’t Do It!” performed by Murder & Merriment.
Throughout the evening, guests will become part of the story as they search for clues, question suspects and attempt to uncover the truth. Behind the fictional twists and turns, however, is a very real purpose.
All proceeds will Support Habitat for Humanity of the Tri-State’s work in Scioto County, helping income qualified homebuyers build strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.
“For one evening, our guests will help solve a fictional mystery, but together, we are also helping address a very real need for safe affordable housing in Scioto County,” said Amy McCallister Ethel, Resource Development Manager for Habitat for Humanity of the Tri-State. “Every ticket purchased and every sponsorship received helps a future Habitat homeowner move closer to the moment when they can open the door to a home of their own.”
Habitat homeowners help build their own homes (alongside volunteers & paid staff). They also complete homeownership education classes, make a down payment and purchase their homes through an affordable mortgage. This work is made possible through the generosity of donors, sponsors, volunteers and community partners.
The fundraiser on September 26 will bring those supporters together for an evening of entertainment, suspense and community impact: all while helping local families write their own new stories filled with hope, opportunity and a safe place to call home.
